Nascida no Rio de Janeiro, em 1993, Isabella Raposo é artista multidisciplinar, mestra em Artes Visuais pela UFRJ e doutoranda em Artes da Cena pela UFRJ. Sua graduação foi em Direção Teatral na UFRJ e realizou o curso regular de Roteiro Cinematográfico na Escola de Cinema Darcy Ribeiro. Fez uma oficina de roteiro na Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión, em Cuba.
É sócia-fundadora da Cia das Novidades Excêntricas, cia de cinema, artes visuais, arte sonora, performance e teatro, sediada no Rio de Janeiro, e do Espaço Cultural Cine Centímetro, em Conservatória, Valença, RJ.
Crescendo por entre projetores e rolos de celuloide, no cinema construído por seu pai em Conservatória (Rio de Janeiro), a obra de Isabella Raposo reflete a permanência do início do cinema e da era das máquinas, revisitando tradições e ideias da era moderna não hegemônicas e suas reverberações no mundo contemporâneo.
Em cinema desenvolve carreira com mais de uma década de atuação contínua. É diretora do longa-metragem "Sinfonia do fim do mundo", ao lado de Thiago Brito, premiado na Mostra do Filme Livre 2023, diretora e roteirista do curta-metragem “Bem no meio do céu”, também em parceria com Thiago Brito, com premiére internacional foi no International Film Festival Rotterdam 2019. Dirigiu e escreveu o curta-metragem “Mar de Monstro”, premiado no Morce-GO Vermelho Horror Film Festival.
É diretora de dois episódios da série /lost+found, concebida por Hernani Heffner, exibida no Canal Curta! em 2022. Em parceria com Thiago Brito, escreveu e dirigiu seis curta-metragens, como "O Mirante do Azul", contemplado no Prêmio Curta Rio 2015, e "Loïe & Lucy", finalista do Grande Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro 2016.
No teatro, dirigiu as peças "Os Cegos", uma adaptação da obra de Maurice Maeterlinck, e "Salomé Elétrica", uma adaptação da obra de Oscar Wilde "Salomé".
É diretora assistente do longa-metragem "Tragam-me a cabeça de Carmem M.", de Felipe Bragança, com premiére internacional foi no International Film Festival Rotterdam 2019. Foi assistente de direção no longa-metragem “Desassossego” e “Claun – Os dias aventurosos de Ayana”, de Felipe Bragança, também exibidos no Rotterdam International Film Festival.
Como artista visual, desenvolve atualmente a série Objeto Sonho, obras interativas e imersivas inspiradas nas máquinas e brinquedos ópticos do período do pré cinema. Na série, investiga a relação entre luz, movimento e som, refletindo sobre os meios tecnológicos que produzem a imagem em movimento e a poesia oculta que carregam. A primeira obra da série, Loïescópio, ficou exposta no Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro, na exposição Galáxias do cinema: máquinas, engrenagens, movimentos ou the strange little thing about love, com curadoria de Hernani Heffner, em 2018. Em 2022, o Loïescópio e as outras duas obras da série - Giroscópio e Kellyscópio - participaram das exposições coletivas "Transfluências", no Paço Imperial, e "Matéria Muta", na Fábrica Bhering. Em 2023, as máquinas participaram da IX Bienal da EBA, no Paço Imperial e no Centro Cultural Feso Pro Arte.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, in 1993, Isabella Raposo is a visual artist, filmmaker and theatre director, graduated in Screenplay by Darcy Ribeiro Film School and Theater Direction by Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She underwent a script workshop at na EICTV - Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión, in Cuba.
Growing up among projectors and celluloid rolls, in the cinema built by her father in Conservatória (Rio de Janeiro), Isabella Raposo's work reflects the permanence of the beginning of the cinema and the machine age, revisiting non-hegemonic modern traditions and ideas and their reverberations in the contemporary digital world, inspired by the work of late 19th century artists such as Loïe Fuller and Oscar Wilde, and contemporary artists such as Lia Chavez, Hélio Oiticica and Abraham Palatnik.
She is director of the feature film "End of the World Sypmphony", in partnership with Thiago Brito, director and screenwriter of the short film "Way Up in the sky", also in partnetship with Thiago Brito, that had a international premiére in Rotterdam International Film Festival 2019. She also directed and wrote "Sea of Monster", winner of the public award of the best short film in Morce-GO Vermelho Goiás Horror Film Festival 2018. She is the director of 2 episodes of the series "/Lost + Found ", conceived by Hernani Heffner. In partnership with Thiago Brito, Isabella Raposo wrote and directed the 6 short films, such as "The Blue Belvedere” and "Loïe & Lucy”.
She also directed the plays "The Blind", an adaptation of Maurice Maeterlinck, and "Electric Salome", an adaptation of Oscar Wilde's "Salome".
Isabella Raposo is director assistant of the mid-lenght film "Bring me the head of Carmem M", by Felipe Bragança, that had a international premiére in Rotterdam International Film Festival 2019. Also was assistant director of the web-series "Claun - The Adventurous Days of Ayana" by Felipe Bragança and the feature film "Desassossego" by Felipe Bragança and Marina Meliande, both screened at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. Also, was assistant director of the short film "Fernando that won a bird of the sea", of Felipe Bragança and Helvécio Marins Jr, exhibited in the Festival of Brasília of Brazilian Cinema and in Curtas Vila of the Conde International Film Festival.
Currently, she develops the work Dream Object series, interactive and immersive works inspired by the machines and optical toys of the pre-cinema period. In the series, she investigates the relationship between light, movement and sound, reflecting on the technological means of the moving image and the hidden poetry that they carry. The first Dream Object, Loïescope, is exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro, at the exhibition Galaxies of the cinema: machines, gears and movement or the strange little thing called love, curated by Hernani Heffner.
